Academy Update

This fall a new and exciting endeavor for the Des Moines Public Schools’ Central Academy has been established.  For the first time, alumni have a designated location where they can peruse the latest happenings at Central, connect with other Academy Alumni, and support the exciting educational opportunities that exist at their former school.  “The Central Academy Alumni network is a valuable resource that will enable us to continue, and expand, programming offered here,” explained Crista Carlile, Central Academy Supervisor.  “We pride ourselves on establishing meaningful and lasting relationships with our students, while providing them with an unparalleled academic challenge.  The Central Academy Alumni network will enable us to follow their successes after they graduate and step out into the world.”

Highlights of the Alumni Network include a website developed by Academy alums.  The website features an Academy Update which gives alums a first-hand look into their old school and a mechanism to get involved with the Network – through both fundraising activities and volunteer events.

“Not only is this a great way for Central Academy alum to stay abreast of current happenings,  it is a chance for former students to give back and network,” explained Carlile.
